at any event where tickets
to see the performance have been sold
to members of the public, irrespective
of whether the proceeds of the performance
are given to charity or are retained
by the Producing Organisation. |
b) |
where members of the public have been
invited attend the performance at no
charge |
c) |
where the performance is given to
members of the public at a place where
the public have gathered for purposes
generally other than for theatrical
productions (eg pubs, shopping malls
etc) |
d) |
where one or more extracts of any
length from a play or musical or other
protected work are performed in front
of members of the public |

Royalties are NOT payable under the
following circumstances, but a Licence IS
required ... |

a) |
where the performance
is given to an educational establishment
and the audience is comprised entirely
from members of the that establishment
(ie the students and staff) |
b) |
where the performance takes place
at an educational establishment in the
presence of an external examiner for
the purpose of assessing the competence
of the cast or crew. In this case, students
and staff are permitted in the audience,
but not parents (who are deemed to be
'members of the public'). |
